Measurement Analysis and Control for Buildings

Being able to accurately measure, analyze and control energy use in buildings is critical to energy efficiency improvement.

Managing energy consumption in houses and other buildings is one of the most important and basic steps that can be taken towards less waste of energy. It is also a very cost effective way to reduce energy use because it depends on improvements to buildings that are already in place. Measurement and analysis are important prerequisites for effective building energy management, because accurate data are necessary for effective management of energy use.

In recent years there has been a strong focus on measurement, analysis and control of energy use by, and in, buildings in Denmark. The focus has resulted in much innovation in the area by Danish companies. The motivation for the focus has been concern for the environment and increasing energy prices and taxes.

Energy measurement is conducted to establish the efficiency of different parts of buildings so optimization can take place and efforts made in the right areas. Measurement, analysis and control are important on the scale from small houses and apartments to huge company buildings. The area is increasingly being merged with intelligent measurement and more
legislation is expected on national and regional levels.
