Fire Fighting
Replacing traditional fire supressants with water mist saves water and energy
In later years, fire suppression systems using water mist as a fire fighting agent have been subject to considerable research and development.
Today water mist is used in the off-shore and marine sector, for example for engine rooms and ships kitchens; and on-shore in offices, server-rooms and for mobile fire-fighting units.
The advantages of using high-pressure generated water mist to extinguish fires include a more efficient and rapid cooling effect and oxygen displacement – the latter making it possible to extinguish even burning cooking oil – using minimal amounts of water. This reduces water damage as well as energy-consumption. Water mist systems, also, do not produce toxic or harmful by-products.
Several Danish companies are at the forefront of the development and implementation of high-pressure fire suppression systems.
