Danish Wind Industry Association

Wind – a Renewable Energy Source
The purpose of The Danish Wind Industry Association (DWIA) is to promote wind energy in Denmark and internationally. Our objective is to strengthen Denmark as a Wind Power Hub – the leading global competence centre for the development of wind power technology.

Wind power is the fastest growing energy form in Denmark, and will prior to 2012 supply 30 percent of electricity consumption. At the same time wind energy technology and services are among Denmark’s most significant export industries, accounting for some 6.5 percent of total Danish exports.

The evolution of the Danish energy system has proved wind power to be a reliable, large-scale energy technology. Currently, wind power plants of approximately 3200 MW in Denmark supply more than 20 percent of the annual electricity consumption. And the share is growing.

DWIA represents manufacturers, energy companies, component suppliers, service companies and consultants – with activities in the global wind industry. The members of DWIA have a leading position on the world market and about every third wind turbine sold worldwide is manufactured by the Danish wind industry.
