Beautiful Bright Green

Almost 15.000 visitors and many prominent guests, including royalty and Nobel Laureates attended the Bright Green Expo during the COP15 weekend

176 leading companies and organizations from 19 countries used the lull in the COP15 negotiations during the weekend to present their cutting edge climate solutions and technologies at the Bright Green expo.

The official opening of the expo was attended by the Crown Princes of Denmark and Norway and the Crown Princess of Sweden; as well as Danish Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gary Locke, and Swedish Minister for Trade, Ewa Björling. Other prominent speakers included US Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, and Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

Along with the many and varied speeches, the Bright Green audience were also treated to entertainment in the form of science shows by Danfoss Universe and musical performances.

All in all, the Bright Green Expo had something for every one of the almost 15.000 visitors. While the kids were kept busy at the science playground or on the Segway test track, the grownups had the opportunity to browse the exhibits of the many companies and organizations presenting current and future green technologies. For COP15 delegates and industry representatives, the Bright Green Expo was the perfect venue for establishing contacts.

One of the exhibitors was Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, who used Bright Green to present the possibilities for cleantech solutions, research facilities, investments and cooperation with Danish companies in the greater Copenhagen area.

“Our contribution was to spread the word that companies, universities and organizations within the cluster hold some of the recipes for tackling the climate challenge. But no country has a complete knowledge base. The more we can match foreign players with local competencies, the stronger a platform we can provide for knowledge exchange, business and innovative cooperation across borders,” says Nicolai Sederberg Rottbøll, head of the Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, and continues:

"We made a lot of good connections and held some informative discussions this weekend, and I am confident that we can build on that."
